Casemiro insists his Man Utd exit is 'done' despite late-season resurgence under Michael Carrick

The Brazilian, who is set to leave Old Trafford when his contract expires at the end of the campaign, has been in impressive form under interim boss Michael Carrick. He has started all 10 matches since Carrick took charge, helping drive a run of seven wins that has lifted United into the top three and back into Premier League title contention.

Fans have responded to his resurgence by urging the club to extend his stay, chanting for "one more year" following recent performances. However, Casemiro has made it clear the decision taken in January stands.

Speaking after Brazil national football team's friendly defeat to France national football team, the 34-year-old admitted his final weeks at the club will be emotional.

"I am still enjoying it a lot in Manchester," he said. "It is huge, the affection that the fans have shown towards me. But I do really believe the decision is made and done. I believe it will be some difficult moments, these final games at Manchester United."

Casemiro's upturn in form has coincided directly with Carrick's arrival in the dugout. The former United midfielder, who replaced Ruben Amorim on an interim basis, has taken 23 points from a possible 30 and drawn praise for getting the best out of the experienced holding midfielder.

"Above all, Michael is a specialist in my position on the field - he was a truly great player," Casemiro said. "That makes everything much easier and he is always talking to us. I feel like we are in a good dynamic right now."

Despite his personal resurgence - including goals in recent Premier League outings - the club's long-term planning appears focused elsewhere, with a shift toward younger midfield options ahead of a likely return to the UEFA Champions League next season.

Casemiro, who made more than 150 appearances during his four years in Manchester after a decorated spell with Real Madrid, is now focused on ensuring he leaves on a high.

"My objective now is to get the club back into the Champions League," he added.

While his exit will mark the end of an era in United's midfield, his recent performances suggest he still has plenty to offer - even if his future lies away from Old Trafford.
