Ibrahim Hassan urges Mo Salah to snub MLS and remain in Europe

Ibrahim Hassan urges Mo Salah to snub MLS and remain in Europe

Salah, now 33, is approaching the end of a glittering nine-year spell at Liverpool, where he secured two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

With his future still undecided, interest is reportedly emerging from Europe's elite, including Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich, as well as clubs in Italy.

Speaking to On Sports, Hassan made it clear he believes Europe remains the ideal stage for Salah to maintain his elite status.

"Personally, I would prefer him to stay in Europe," Hassan was quoted by Flashscore.

"A move to the Major League? He would be far too out of the spotlight. You won't remember Salah any more than I remember Lionel Messi now - I don't even try to watch him."

Messi made a high-profile switch to Inter Miami CF in 2023 after decorated spells with Barcelona and PSG, and has since become the club's all-time leading scorer.

However, Hassan suggested that such a move inevitably reduces a player's visibility at the highest competitive level.

While dismissing MLS as a preferred destination, Hassan pointed to the Saudi Pro League as a more viable alternative should top European offers fail to materialise.

"If he does not receive offers from Europe, then a move to the Saudi league would be a good option, especially with big names such as Cristiano Ronaldo," he added.

MLS commissioner Don Garber has previously expressed interest in bringing Salah to the United States, though no formal approach from any MLS club has been confirmed.

With the next step in Salah's career looming, the debate continues over whether he should prioritise global visibility in Europe or explore new challenges elsewhere.
