Titans defeat Super Giants by seven wickets

The Gujarat Titans recorded an emphatic seven wicket win over an unimpressive Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket Stadium B Ground on Sunday.

The Titans won the toss and decided to bowl with fast bowler Kagiso Rabada striking in the second over to dismiss Mitchell Marsh (11) before Mohammed Siraj struck two overs later to get the wicket of Rishabh Pant.

Prasidh Krishna (4/28) then asserted his authority onto proceedings, dismissing dangerman Aiden Makram (30) just after the powerplay before bamboozling the middle order to leave Lucknow at 109/5 after 14.3 overs.

Ashok Sharma contributed with a brace of wickets as the Titans restricted LSG to a underwhelming total of 164/8.

In response, the visitors seemed to be strolling towards their target before Sai Sudharsan (15) was dismissed with the score at 45/1 after five overs.

Captain Shubman Gil (56) and Jos Butler put on a 84 wicket partnership for the second wicket before Gil was caught off the bowling of Prince Yadav with his partner falling to Mohammed Shami in the next over.

Washington Sundar (21*) and Rahul Tewatia (10*) were able to easily take the Titans to their second victory of the IPL above Lucknow into fifth position on the table.

Royal Challengers impress as they beat Mumbai Indians

The Royal Challengers Bangalore put in a great all-round performance as they beat the Mumbai Indians by 19 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

The Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bowl and were to rue that decision as RCB openers Phil Salt and Virat Kohli put on a 120 run partnership for the first wicket before Salt was caught off Shardul Thakur's bowling.

Kohli helped push the score to 185 before he was dismissed by Hardik Pandya with Rajat Patidar (58) falling just two overs later with the score at 194/3.

The lower order did well to push the total to 240/4 with impact player Tim David adding 34 runs of just 14 balls.

MI began the second innings well, with Ryan Rickelton (37) and Rohit Sharma (19) starting well before the latter retired hurt to bring Suryakumar Yadav to the crease.

Rickelton was the first wicket to fall with in the seventh over with Suyash Sharma adding the wicket of Tilak Varma (1) in the same seventh over to leave the visitors at 74/2.

Indian all-rounder Hardik Pandya (40 off 22 balls) put on a brave show but was caught by Romario Shepard from a Jacob Duffy delivery before Naman Dhir fell to Rasikh Salam for one run in the next over.

Impact player Sherfane Rutherford did his best with the bat with an unbeaten 65 off 30 balls but it was not enough, as RCB won comfortably by 19 runs to cement third spot on the table while Mumbai remains eighth.
