Luis Diaz hat-trick, Harry Kane double sees Bayern Munich thrash Hoffenheim

The contest swung firmly in Bayern’s favour early on when Hoffenheim defender Kevin Akpoguma was shown a red card in the 17th minute after bringing down Diaz inside the box. Kane stepped up moments later and calmly converted from 12 yards to give the hosts the advantage and set the tone for a dominant afternoon.

Despite being reduced to 10 men, Hoffenheim briefly threatened a comeback when Andrej Kramaric equalised, punishing a lapse in concentration from the home side. However, Bayern quickly reasserted control and restored their lead through Kane’s second penalty of the match, taking his Bundesliga tally to 24 goals for the season and moving him ahead of Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe in the race to be Europe’s leading league scorer.

Vincent Kompany’s side tightened their hold on the match before the interval as Diaz opened his account, finishing off a flowing move just before half-time to extend Bayern’s cushion. The Colombian winger, who has added further cutting edge to Bayern’s attack, continued to torment Hoffenheim after the break.

Diaz struck again in the 62nd minute to effectively end the contest, finishing clinically after another incisive Bayern move. He then completed his hat-trick late on, rounding off the scoring in the final stages to secure the match ball and cap a commanding individual performance.

The victory ensured Bayern restored their six-point lead at the top of the table after Borussia Dortmund had temporarily cut the gap with a win over Wolfsburg. With Kane maintaining his prolific scoring form and Diaz delivering a standout display, Bayern’s title push continues to gather momentum.
