Man City's Erling Haaland gives fitness update after early Norway exit

The 25-year-old was released from international duty by Norway boss Stale Solbakken following their 5–0 World Cup qualifying win over Israel, where Haaland hit a hat-trick despite missing two penalties.

His withdrawal before the friendly against New Zealand sparked concerns among City fans, but the Norwegian Football Federation later confirmed that several players with heavy schedules had been allowed to return to their clubs.

A statement read: "Players with particularly tight match schedules are returning home: Alexander Sorloth, Julian Ryerson, Erling Haaland and Fredrik Bjorkan."

Haaland appeared to be in good spirits after posting photos on social media showing him playing golf with his father, Alf-Inge, during the short break. The striker, dressed casually and smiling, looked relaxed and injury-free, a reassuring sight for both City and Norway supporters.

The City forward has been in electric form this season, leading the Premier League's scoring charts with nine goals in seven matches. His performances in September earned him his fourth Premier League Player of the Month award, underlining his continued dominance in front of goal.

Reflecting on his form, Haaland said: "September was an important month for us as a team. We played some really good football, stayed unbeaten, and got important wins for our fans. I'm happy I could help the team with goals and performances.

"Now we just keep going, keep working hard every day, because there's a tough schedule after the international break. Hopefully we can keep the same level and win even more games."

Manchester City, currently three points behind leaders Arsenal, will resume their Premier League campaign this weekend, when they host Everton on Saturday, as they look to close the gap at the top and challenge for the title, with Haaland once again ready to lead the charge.
