Olisa Ndah salutes Orlando Pirates faithful after triumphant return in Carling Cup win

The Nigerian international featured for the first time since September 2024 and delivered a commanding performance at the back as Pirates kept a clean sheet on their way to lifting the trophy — their third piece of silverware.

Ndah’s return comes at a crucial time for the Buccaneers, who are preparing for the second half of the season following the departure of young defender Mbekezeli Mbokazi to Major League Soccer side Chicago Fire.

With his experience and leadership, Ndah is expected to play a key role as Pirates push on multiple fronts.

Speaking to Pirates media, the centre-back praised the club’s winning mentality and the unwavering support of the fans, even under difficult conditions.

“We keep making history every time. I think it’s a norm at this team,” said Ndah.

“We try to win everything and that’s the most important thing right now. We enjoy our time and celebrate moments like this.”

Ndah reserved special praise for the supporters, who turned out in large numbers despite heavy rain.

“A big thank you to the fans — not only for today. They’ve always been there for us, showing love even when things are not going well,” he added.

“Thank you for coming out even in the rain. You can see how it’s pouring, but you still showed up for us. We really appreciate the support.”

With Pirates still competing for major honours, including the Nedbank Cup and the Betway Premiership, Ndah urged the fans to continue backing the team as they enter a decisive phase of the campaign.

“We will continue in the second round with good strength,” he said.

“We still have big trophies to fight for, and with the fans behind us, anything is possible.”
