Report: Tottenham approach Man City to sign Brazilian winger Savinho

Spurs are in the market for a creative playmaker following a long-term injury to James Maddison, which has intensified their search for a number 10.

Savinho, who can operate in the No 10 role but is predominantly a winger, joined City last summer from sister club Troyes. He made an immediate impact in his debut season, recording three goals and 13 assists across 48 appearances in the 2024/25 campaign.

His performances have caught the attention of Tottenham, who see him as a versatile attacking option capable of complementing their forward line.

City's stance remains firm, with manager Pep Guardiola keen to retain the young Brazilian. However, the arrival of Rayan Cherki this summer, coupled with stiff competition from Phil Foden, Oscar Bobb and Jeremy Doku, could limit Savinho's playing time this season.

The winger recently featured as a half-time substitute in City's 3-0 pre-season victory over Palermo on Saturday, but his long-term role in the squad is unclear.

Tottenham have previously relied on Dejan Kulusevski to fill in as a No 10 during Maddison's absences, but manager Ange Postecoglou is eager to bring in a dedicated creative presence.

Whether City's resistance can be overcome remains to be seen, but Savinho's combination of pace, flair and vision makes him an attractive target.
