Baartman finished with remarkable figures of five for 16, including a hat-trick, as the Capitals were bowled out for just 127. It was only the second hat-trick in the short history of the competition and it completely swung the match in the Royals' favour.
Pretoria started brightly after choosing to bat, racing to 30 without loss inside three overs, helped by a generous number of extras. That momentum vanished the moment Baartman entered the attack. He struck with his first two deliveries, bowling Connor Esterhuizen and trapping Jordan Cox leg before, both with balls that jagged back sharply.
Although Wihan Lubbe briefly delayed the inevitable, Baartman returned at the death to complete his hat-trick. Andre Russell was caught at long-off, Lizaad Williams chopped on, and Lungi Ngidi was caught and bowled to complete a stunning spell that ripped the heart out of the Capitals' innings.
Sikandar Raza played a key supporting role, claiming two for 29. He removed Dewald Brevis for 21 with a skidding delivery and later dismissed Shai Hope, who had been trying to rebuild with a cautious knock. Capitals never recovered and were dismissed inside 20 overs.
Chasing 128, Paarl Royals were briefly checked early on by Lizaad Williams, but Rubin Hermann quickly took control. Hermann struck a fluent 46 from 29 balls, mixing clean pulls and cuts with powerful straight hits to keep the asking rate firmly in check. His innings ensured the Royals stayed ahead of the game despite losing early wickets.
With 55 still required, David Miller and Dan Lawrence ended any remaining doubt. The pair added 57 runs at speed, punishing Russell and Williams in particular. Lawrence made a composed 41 from 32 balls, while Miller finished the job in style with an unbeaten 28 from 16 deliveries.
The comprehensive win earned Paarl Royals a bonus point, snapped Pretoria Capitals' three-match winning run, and lifted the Royals above Sunrisers Eastern Cape at the top of the SA20 standings.
