Sri Lanka pull off heist to win ODI thriller against Zimbabwe in Harare
Dilshan Madushanka took a hat-trick in the final over as Sri Lanka came back from looking dead and buried to beat Zimbabwe by seven runs in the first ODI in Harare on Friday.
The hosts were restricted to a total of 277-7 in their 50 overs after being put in to bat, with opener Ben Curran top-scoring with 79 while Sikandar Raza struck an unbeaten 59 and Clive Madande a quick-fire 36.
Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera led a disciplined bowling effort for the visitors, picking up 3-52 while fellow seamer Asitha Fernando finished with figures of 2-67.
Sri Lanka's run-chase was anchored by opening batter Pathum Nissanka, who scored 122 - for a seventh ODI century in his 21st appearance - while captain Charith Asalanka struck 71 as the tourists got over the line with three balls to spare.
The win means Sri Lanka secured victories in both ODI matches on tour with the teams now set to battle in three T20Is starting on Wednesday.
