Ten-man Everton collapse as Bournemouth stage comeback win

The hosts started brightly and were rewarded when Iliman Ndiaye converted from the penalty spot after Bournemouth forward Rayan fouled Jarrad Branthwaite inside the area. Everton had opportunities to strengthen their advantage, but Thierno Barry missed two clear chances from close range either side of half-time.

Bournemouth turned the contest around shortly after the hour mark. Rayan, who has enjoyed an encouraging start to his Premier League career since arriving from Vasco da Gama, made amends by heading in Adrien Truffert's cross to level the match.

The visitors then struck again minutes later when James Hill nodded a free-kick across goal for Amine Adli to head home from close range. A brief VAR check for offside confirmed the goal.

Everton's task became even harder when Jake O'Brien was sent off for pulling down Adli as the attacker raced through on goal, leaving David Moyes' side to finish with 10 men.

Despite late pressure, Everton could not find an equaliser as substitute Beto and Branthwaite both missed headed opportunities. The defeat extends Everton's home league winless run to six matches and damages their hopes of climbing into the European qualification places.

Bournemouth, meanwhile, stretched their unbeaten Premier League run to six matches and moved level on points with Everton, continuing their push up the table.
