Wounded Leinster determined to respond against Lions in URC quarter-final

The Irish province head into Saturday's URC quarter-final against the Lions at the Aviva Stadium still reeling from a heavy 41-19 loss to Bordeaux Begles in Bilbao.

It marked a fifth Champions Cup final defeat for Leinster since their last triumph in the competition in the 2017-18 season.

However, despite the punishing nature of the defeat, Porter was quick to dismiss any suggestion Leinster will lack motivation against the Lions this weekend, particularly with a potential home semi-final and final on the line.

"It was obviously tough. Tough reviewing needs to be done," Porter admitted.

"We're lucky that we still have something to play for. We're throwing everything into it this weekend, and there's still a trophy to be won.

"We're leaving no stone unturned this week. We know it'll be a tough game, but we're ready to flip the page.

"We want to have something to celebrate. That [URC trophy] is what we're chasing."

Last season, Leinster were in a similar position after falling short in the Champions Cup, but responded strongly to lift the URC title with playoff victories over the Scarlets, Glasgow Warriors and the Bulls.
