The 15-year-old hammered a stunning 97 off just 29 deliveries as Rajasthan cruised to a commanding 47-run victory. Suryavanshi's ferocious knock included 12 towering sixes, allowing him to eclipse Chris Gayle's long-standing IPL record for the most sixes in a single season.
Gayle had previously set the benchmark with 59 maximums, but Suryavanshi's extraordinary campaign has now taken him to 65 sixes for the season. Srikkanth labelled the feat remarkable, particularly at such an early stage of the youngster's career.
The former opener even claimed that legends such as Viv Richards and Kapil Dev did not dismantle bowling attacks with the same relentless consistency. He also compared Suryavanshi's sensational run to Virat Kohli's iconic 2016 IPL season, when Kohli amassed a record 973 runs.
"Now it's about what name can be given to him on the lines of Universe Boss or God of cricket. The whole world is praising him," Srikkanth said in a video on his YouTube channel.
"What Gayle did in his career, this kid is beating in his second season. It'll be impossible for someone to beat what this kid is doing. He is not just slogging but playing very intelligent cricket.
"He hasn't failed in consecutive innings this entire season and has scored in 11 out of the 15 innings. He is having the Orange Cap in his first full season itself.
"I've seen many players destroy attacks like Viv Richards and Kapil Dev. But I've never seen someone as explosive as him. Even Viv Richards and Kapil Dev didn't consistently destroy attacks like this."
