The pair have been among Sundowns’ most consistent performers over the past few seasons and have also become key figures within Bafana Bafana, catching the attention of the international brand.
Their hard work continues to pay off on multiple fronts. Aubaas has been included in Hugo Broos’ final squad for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon), while Rayners has been placed on standby after another prolific season in front of goal.
Rayners has developed a reputation as one of the most reliable scorers in the PSL, finishing as runner-up in the Golden Boot race for the last two seasons.
Two campaigns ago, his 15 goals left him just one behind winner Tshegofatso Mabasa, and last season he again narrowly missed out—this time to Lucas Ribeiro, whose 16 goals sealed the award.
Puma South Africa praised the signing of the Sundowns duo, describing it as a strong statement of intent.
“Signing two of the brightest stars from the most successful team in the PSL is a statement for the brand,” said Tshepo Mashishi, Puma SA Teamhead – Teamsports Marketing.
“This partnership will drive visibility of our Future and Ultra football boots.”
Aubaas, who wears the new Puma future 9, said joining the brand felt like the right step in his career.
“I’m looking forward to having an amazing journey with PUMA. The boots are comfortable, light and perfect for players who mix creativity with stability,” he said.
While Aubaas is with Bafana, Rayners is with the Brazilians in Botswana for the Morupule Charity Spectacular.
