Abdeslam Ouaddou reflects on surviving car accident ahead of MTN8 final

The incident occurred on 31 August following the Buccaneers' league clash against Chippa United, with Ouaddou and five staff members requiring medical care.

The Moroccan coach was discharged late last week and returned to the sidelines on Tuesday at Rand Stadium, where Pirates continued preparations for this weekend's MTN8 final.

Speaking to the media, Ouaddou admitted that the experience left him emotional but grateful to be able to continue leading his team.

"Of course, the club issued a statement about the accident, but this is not the right place to go into detail," Ouaddou said.

"I'm a bit emotional - not because we're in the final, but because I can sit here today and speak to you. For that, I'm thankful."

The 46-year-old went on to extend his gratitude to the medical staff who treated him and his colleagues.

"I'd like to thank all the hospital personnel, the doctors, and everyone involved who did a very big job to make sure I could be here today and manage the game this weekend."

Ouaddou now shifts focus to guiding Pirates as they aim for another piece of silverware in Saturday's MTN8 final.
