Antony reveals Bayern Munich approach before joining Real Betis

The former Ajax Amsterdam star joined the LaLiga club on transfer deadline day following a successful loan spell during the 2024/25 season.

However, the 25-year-old has claimed that Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich made contact with him on the final day of the summer transfer window.

"I'm going to be completely honest with you right now, it really shook me up," said Antony to Brazil's Globo Esporte.

"We're talking about a global giant, Bayern Munich, where there is a coach with that kind of history.

“Vincent Kompany called me and we had a conversation. He was super polite to me, said he always really liked my football, and this was at 11pm (on Deadline Day), a little after 11pm.”

Antony opted to join Betis for a reported £25million fee but admits that he was charmed by the talk with the Bavarians manager.

"Whether I wanted to or not, it really affected me because of the greatness of the club, the greatness of the coach and the way he approached me, the way he talked to me," added the Brazilian.

He has continued his good form with the Spanish club this season, scoring six goals and providing two assists in 11 appearances in all competitions.
