Arbeloa slams late Camavinga red-card as Bayern end Madrid's European dream

The quarter-final second leg was finely balanced before substitute Eduardo Camavinga was sent off in the closing minutes after receiving two quick yellow cards. With the score level at that stage, the dismissal shifted momentum sharply.

Bayern took full advantage, scoring twice late on to seal a 4-3 win on the night and a 6-4 aggregate victory. The German side now move on to face Paris Saint-Germain in the semi-finals.

Arbeloa did not hold back in his post-match assessment. "It's unbelievable that you can send off a player for this action in a match like this," he said. "We feel really upset, really angry. This felt like a defining game in our season."

The Madrid coach went further, claiming the referee had lost control of the moment. "I think the referee didn't even know he had a booking," Arbeloa said. "He's ruined a knockout tie. It was a beautiful match, played at a fantastic level, and that's where the game ended."

Real's players echoed that frustration. Jude Bellingham described the decision as "a joke" as he walked past reporters, while Antonio Rudiger chose his words carefully, saying: "You saw the situations yourself - it's better not to speak."

In contrast, Bayern forward Luis Diaz defended the referee's call. "I think the referee was right to send him off," he said. "We wanted to take the free-kick quickly and he didn't release the ball."

The result leaves Madrid facing the prospect of a second consecutive season without a major trophy. They also trail Barcelona by nine points in La Liga with just seven matches remaining, increasing the pressure on Arbeloa and his squad after a night that turned on one decisive moment.
