Arsenal's Victor Osimhen pursuit hits another roadblock

According to Turkish journalist Omer Faruk Ozcan, via Nexus Sports, senior Arsenal officials travelled to Istanbul in an attempt to convince Galatasaray to sell their star forward.

Instead of making a straight cash offer, the Premier League club reportedly proposed a swap deal involving Swedish striker Viktor Gyokeres, along with an additional 30 million euros.

Arsenal hoped Gyokeres could replace Osimhen in Galatasaray's attack while they secured one of Europe's most sought-after forwards.

However, the Turkish champions rejected the proposal and remain determined to keep hold of the Nigerian international unless their valuation is met.

Galatasaray reportedly value Osimhen between 130 million and 150 million euros, with the club viewing him as one of the most influential strikers in world football following his outstanding performances in Turkey.

Since joining Galatasaray permanently from Napoli, Osimhen has scored 59 goals and registered 16 assists in 74 appearances across all competitions. His performances have played a major role in the club winning back-to-back Super Lig titles and establishing themselves as a force in European football.

The 26-year-old has also become a supporters' favourite in Istanbul, with his goals, leadership and physical style making him a central figure in coach Okan Buruk's plans.

Arsenal's interest in Osimhen is long-standing, with sporting director Andrea Berta previously monitoring the striker and exploring a potential move.

The latest approach comes amid questions over Gyokeres' adjustment after his expensive move from Sporting CP in 2025. While the Swedish forward has shown promise, Arsenal are believed to be searching for a more established goalscorer capable of leading their attack in the Premier League and Champions League.

Despite ongoing speculation, Osimhen has shown no signs of forcing an exit. The striker recently returned to pre-season training after positive discussions with Galatasaray officials and remains committed to the club.

Although he has previously spoken about his ambition to play in England, Osimhen is reportedly happy in Istanbul and will only consider leaving if an exceptional sporting and financial opportunity emerges.
