Atletico returned from Seville devastated after losing the final little more than a week ago, extending the club's long history of heartbreak in major competitions. The defeat revived memories of the Champions League final losses to Real Madrid in 2014 and 2016, while the club are still chasing a first European Cup after also finishing runners-up in 1974.
The pressure increased when Atletico supporters gave the team a cold reception during Saturday's home clash with Athletic Bilbao. However, the mood improved after Simeone's side battled to a 3-2 victory at the Metropolitano.
"The fans don't need messages from me, what they need is to win," Simeone said after the Copa final defeat.
The Argentine coach believes Atletico's supporters can once again make the difference on another huge European night. The Metropolitano has become one of the toughest stadiums in Europe since opening in 2017, with Atletico producing major performances there this season.
They hammered Barcelona 4-0 in the Copa del Rey semi-finals and also beat rivals Real Madrid 5-2 in a thrilling derby earlier in the campaign.
Simeone insisted his team have earned their place among Europe's elite through hard work and determination.
"Atletico have struggled to reach Champions League semi-finals and finals," he explained.
"We've built this success through hard work and the support of our fans. We need them now more than ever."
Atletico striker Julian Alvarez said the squad were fully focused on responding after recent setbacks.
"We have to get up from that blow and give everything to get to the final," said the Argentina international.
Simeone's side may no longer rely purely on defensive football, with players like Giuliano Simeone, Marcos Llorente and Alexander Sorloth giving the team pace and attacking power. Antoine Griezmann also remains central to Atletico's approach with his relentless work-rate and creativity.
"If you don't run, you're coming off tomorrow," Simeone joked while sitting alongside Griezmann at a recent press conference.
Alvarez confirmed he was "100 percent" fit despite missing chances against Arsenal earlier this season, although Atletico will be without injured midfielder Pablo Barrios.
Llorente warned that both teams had changed significantly since Arsenal's 4-0 victory over Atletico in the league phase back in October.
"Both teams have evolved a lot since then," he said.
Griezmann, who is expected to leave Atletico for Orlando City at the end of the season, admitted the Arsenal clash could define the club's campaign.
"It's good to win again after a negative run," said the French forward.
"It will be a very important match. We have to be calm, relaxed, knowing that we can do it.
"I'm enjoying these last few games here. I hope I can gift something incredible to the fans."
For Simeone and Atletico, the challenge is now clear - turn years of pain into a night of redemption against Arsenal.
