Barcelona face fresh delay in Camp Nou return as Joan Laporta urges patience
Barcelona's long-awaited return to Camp Nou has suffered yet another setback, with the club forced to continue playing away from their historic home.
Tchouameni has played every minute of Madrid's opening three La Liga victories, a 1-0 win against Osasuna, a 3-0 triumph at Oviedo and a 2-1 success over Mallorca, anchoring a midfield that has impressed despite injury setbacks elsewhere.
Speaking to Marca, the 24-year-old praised Alonso's influence. "I am happy with him, honestly. It's true that things are going well with the coach and that he has new ideas for me and for the team, but I think that since the beginning of 2025 things have gone much better for me and I was already doing well with Carlo.
"In any case, the idea now is to focus on each match, help my teammates and keep growing," he said.
Tchouameni has partnered Federico Valverde, who has also completed all 270 minutes so far and provided one assist. Eduardo Camavinga, however, has missed the start of the season through injury, leaving Tchouameni with even greater responsibility in the centre of the pitch.
When asked to compare Alonso with Carlo Ancelotti, Tchouameni chose his words carefully. "There are differences between Carlo and Xabi, that's normal, each one has his idea and his style, but they are two great coaches," he said.
Alonso has been rewarded for Madrid's perfect start by being named La Liga's Manager of the Month for August, with his side scoring six goals and conceding only once.
Madrid now turn their attention to their Champions League opener against Marseille on September 16, where Tchouameni is again expected to play a leading role.
