Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane on track to rewrite Bundesliga scoring history

Kane has already struck 18 league goals in 14 appearances for Bayern Munich, keeping him firmly ahead in the race to surpass Lewandowski's mark of 41 in the 2020‑21 campaign.

Kane joined Bayern from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023 after becoming the London club's all‑time leading scorer with 280 goals. The move brought major honours that had eluded him in England: he claimed the Bundesliga title with Bayern in 2024‑25 and later added the German Super Cup to his medal collection.

The 32‑year‑old has been central to Bayern's dominance this season. The German champions lead the Bundesliga by nine points and recently became the fastest team in league history to reach 50 goals in just 14 matches. Kane's late penalty in a dramatic 2‑2 draw with Mainz was his 18th league goal of the season, underlining both his consistency and ruthless penalty record.

Bayern coach Vincent Kompany has praised Kane's all‑round game, insisting his contribution goes beyond goals. "He works incredibly hard defensively and for the team," Kompany said after Kane became the fastest player to reach 100 club goals in Europe's top five leagues for a single club. "That's why he's so valuable."

Kane himself has not put a ceiling on what he can achieve. After breaking the 100‑goal mark in record time, he said it was "an honour" and emphasized his ongoing hunger to improve.

Lewandowski, the Pole who set the existing Bundesliga seasonal record, previously reflected on his own achievement with pride, noting how special scoring 41 in 29 games had been. That benchmark now stands as one of German football's most coveted targets, and if Kane keeps his current form, he may well write himself into the history books.
