Ngwenya on target in AmaZulu win

Usuthu star striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya netted a goal for the fifth consecutive league match to help his side to a 2-1 victory over KwaZulu-Natal rivals Richards Bay.

The two sides had a cautious start before AmaZulu began dominating without really testing Bay goalkeeper Ian Otieno forcing the match to go into half-time at a goalless draw.

Ngwenya rose highest to head home from a looping deflected cross to open the scoring just six minutes into the second half, his sixth in the league this season.

However, the home side fought back, forcing Arthur Zwane's side to concede a soft penalty which was duly converted in the 70th minute by Moses Mthembu.

The visitors were to have the final say, as Nkosikhona Radebe pounced on a loose ball inside the box to slot home the winner and push his side back to third spot on the table while the Natal Rich Boys remain winless in 12th position.

Gallants, Polokwane share spoils in four goal battle

Marumo Gallants continued their winless run following a 2-2 draw against Polokwane City in the Limpopo derby.

City got off to a perfect start to the match with Tidimalo Molokwane volleying home from a Juan Mutudza flick on to claim a third minute lead.

The home side fought back and equalized in the 17th minute through a speculative Msindisi Kunene's grass cutter from range that Polokwane goalkeeper Ayanda Ngwenya failed to deal with.

However, the visitors restored their lead just eight minutes later when Bonginkosi Dlamini latched onto a through ball to slot past shot-stopper Emile Lako.

Babina Noko kept pushing an were rewarded when defender Lebohang Nkaki misjudged a long ball towards his penalty area and headed it over his keeper into the net for an equalizer at the stroke of half-time.

The two sides resorted to long range efforts that mostly failed to test the goalkeepers as they settled for a draw on a rainy Friday evening.

Rise And Shine move up to eighth on the league table while Gallants remain in 15 spot.
