Betway Premiership: Arrows face tough Stellenbosch as Milford tackle Polokwane next

Both matches offer an intriguing early-season test, with Arrows still unbeaten but yet to score in the league and Milford already showing they can compete at the top level.

Golden Arrows vs Stellenbosch FC

Golden Arrows welcome Stellenbosch FC to the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Wednesday, with kick-off scheduled for 19:30.

Pitso Dladla's Arrows have made an unusual start to the campaign. They have drawn all three of their league matches 0-0, leaving them with three points and still waiting for their first goal.

Their defensive record, however, has been outstanding. Arrows have not conceded in the Premiership and recently showed their ability to frustrate stronger opposition by beating Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0 in the MTN8.

Stellenbosch, managed by Gavin Hunt, have had a more eventful opening to the season.

They lost 1-0 to AmaZulu in their opening game before drawing 1-1 with Polokwane City and then producing their best performance of the campaign in a 3-1 victory over Marumo Gallants.

That leaves Stellenbosch on four points, one ahead of Arrows, and Hunt will hope his side can find a way through a defence that has yet to be breached in the league.

The recent head-to-head record gives Stellenbosch some encouragement. In their last 15 competitive meetings, Stellenbosch have won six times, Arrows have claimed three victories and six matches have ended level.

The main question in Durban is whether Arrows can finally turn their defensive strength into attacking reward, or whether Stellenbosch can become the first side to break through Dladla's well-organised defence.

Polokwane City vs Milford FC

Polokwane City face Milford FC at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday at 19:30 in what will be a historic fixture, with the two clubs meeting competitively for the first time.

Milford have made an impressive start to their first season in the Betway Premiership after earning promotion through the PSL Promotion-Relegation Playoffs in June.

Dr Xanti Pupuma's side have won two of their opening three matches and sit fifth with six points. Their early form has marked them out as one of the surprise packages of the opening weeks.

Polokwane City, meanwhile, have four points from their opening three matches. Bayano Moloto's side have won once, drawn once and lost once, but they will be looking for a response after a 2-0 defeat away to Sekhukhune United.

Moloto returned to the club ahead of the new season after previously working behind the scenes at Polokwane City. He replaced Phuti Mohafe, who left to take charge of Marumo Gallants.

With Milford already showing confidence in their first top-flight campaign, Polokwane will know they face a side with little fear and plenty of momentum.

For the visitors, another victory would further strengthen their reputation as one of the early surprises of the 2026/27 Premiership season. For Polokwane, it is an opportunity to put their latest defeat behind them and make home advantage count.
