Betway Premiership: Chippa, Polokwane and Gallants look for early momentum

Chippa United, Polokwane City and Marumo Gallants will all be looking to make home advantage count, while Richards Bay, Stellenbosch FC and newcomers Kruger United aim to secure their first points of the season.

Chippa United will be looking to claim their first win of the season when they host Richards Bay on Tuesday evening.

The Chilli Boys have temporarily relocated their home fixtures from Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium because of ongoing pitch rehabilitation. They began their league campaign with a hard-fought 0-0 draw away to Lamontville Golden Arrows.

A victory in their first home match in Soweto would provide Chippa with valuable momentum, but they face a Richards Bay side determined to respond after a disappointing start.

The Natal Rich Boyz were beaten 2-1 at home by Polokwane City in their opening fixture and will be eager to address their defensive shortcomings while getting their first points on the board.

Polokwane City vs Stellenbosch FC

Polokwane City will aim to maintain their winning start when they welcome Stellenbosch FC to Seshego Stadium.

Rise and Shine opened their campaign with a 2-1 victory over Richards Bay, a result that lifted them to third place on the early league table.

However, Polokwane enter Tuesday's encounter after a narrow 3-2 extra-time defeat to Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 quarter-finals. They will now turn their attention back to league matters as they look to build on their opening-day success.

Stellenbosch, meanwhile, are searching for their first points after losing 1-0 to AmaZulu in their opening fixture. Stellies will hope their restructured squad can find a way through Polokwane's disciplined defence and avoid a second consecutive league defeat.

Marumo Gallants vs Kruger United

Marumo Gallants will finally begin their 2026-27 Betway Premiership campaign when they welcome newcomers Kruger United to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.

Gallants did not feature in the opening round after their scheduled clash with Mamelodi Sundowns was postponed. Tuesday's fixture therefore represents their first opportunity to get their campaign underway, with home advantage potentially playing a key role.

Kruger United, meanwhile, face another difficult test after suffering a 3-1 defeat to Kaizer Chiefs in their first-ever Betway Premiership fixture.

The newcomers will be looking for a much-improved defensive display as they attempt to avoid back-to-back defeats and secure their first top-flight points.
