Chiefs clinch CAF spot after turbulent season

Amakhosi defeated Sekhukhune United 2-0 at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday to book themselves a spot in next season's CAF Confederation Cup.

The result also means the Glamour Boys have now qualified for CAF competitions for two consecutive seasons, having achieved the feat last season after winning the Nedbank Cup under former coach Nasreddine Nabi.

Chiefs will be confident of launching a better title challenge next season after having navigated through a change in the coaching department after Nabi's exit.

Sundowns, Pirates keep the title show going

Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns scored ten goals between them in their weekend fixtures against Magesi and Siwelele respectively, underlying the determination to fight for the league title until the end.

Masandawana will want to conclude their campaign on Tuesday with a big victory against the struggling TS Galaxy, in order to close the seven goal deficit to AmaBhakaniya.

Regardless of the Sundowns result in their final clash, Bucs will still have to win a match and avoid defeat in their two remaining matches in order to be crowned champions.

It's going down to the wire!

Draws dominate relegation threatened teams

Marumo Gallants, Orbit College, Chippa United and TS Galaxy all played to draws in their respective fixtures over the weekend, with bottom of the table Magesi losing to Orlando Pirates.

The weekend's results see The Rockets avoid automatic relegation but still need a point to avoid being pulled into the relegation playoff zone.

Polokwane, Arrows Durban City edge closer to top eight qualification

Polokwane City, Golden Arrows and Durban City all played to draws during the past weekend which leaves them needing one win from the last two matches to secure a top eight spot.

Siwelele [9th], Stellenbosch [10th], and Richards Bay [11th] will have to win their remaining two fixtures and hope all the above mentioned sides lose their games in order to sneak into the top eight.

Top goal scorer contenders fail to score

Current Betway Premiership top goal scorer leader Golden Arrows striker Sede Dion [13], second placed Mamelodi Sundowns forward Iqraam Rayners [12] and Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng [10] in third spot all failed to score this weekend.

Rayners will have a final chance to add to his tally and move to the top when his side faces TS Galaxy on Tuesday, while Dion and Mofokeng still have two matches to attempt win the PSL goals coring award.
