Betway Premiership: Stellenbosch, TS Galaxy and Richards Bay pick up valuable wins

Stellenbosch pick up first league win of the season

Langelihle Phili came off the bench to net the winner just after the halftime interval as Stellies registered their first league win of the campaign at the Danie Craven Stadium.

The home side had gone into the contest with two defeats and a draw in their opening three Betway Premiership encounters and will be relieved to get back on the winning trial.

Gallants had already accumulated six points after two wins but slipped to their second loss of the season.

Mahlambi brace guides TS Galaxy to second consecutive win

Seluleko Mahlambi scored a brace to help the Rockets to a second consecutive league victory after a 2-0 win over newcomers Siwelele at the Mbombela Stadium.

Mahlambi opened the scoring after 22 minutes with a powerful header and struck again on the stroke of halftime to make sure the hosts walked away with maximum points.

It has been a tough start for Siwelele in the top-flight as they have now suffered three successive defeats after an opening day win.

Richards Bay pick up first points of the season

Richards Bay picked up their first points and victory of the season after beating Chippa United 1-0 at the Princess Magogo Stadium.

The only goal of the game came in first-half stoppage-time when forward Gabadinho Mhango took advantage of a comical mix-up between a defender Nathan Fasika and his goalkeeper to leave the net open.

The Chilli Boys remain winless after four matches and sit at the foot of the standings after four matches.
