The 74-year-old mentor steered South Africa past the group stages of the World Cup for the first time in the country's history while also earning a bronze medal at the 2023 African Cup of Nations.
However, Broos has now revealed that he is stepping down from the head coaching position after just over five years at the helm of Bafana.
"Will I continue as a coach after all? No, it is irreversible!" said Broos to voetbalnieuws.
"If they [South Africa] need me for something else, perhaps in scouting: that is something else. But football is no longer going to be a part of my life 24 hours a day.
"I have already had a conversation with the chairman of the South African federation. He would like to keep me, but in a different role, as an advisor or something like that. I will return at the end of July to say a final farewell; I am curious to see what he will propose to me."
He led Bafana in 60 matches, winning 29, drawing 19 and losing 12 times.
Former Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is reportedly the leading candidate to replace Broos, with AmaZulu's Arthur Zwane also interested in the position.
