Burnley and Leeds United secure promotion back to Premier League

Leeds thrashed Stoke City 6-0 while Burnley beat third-placed Sheffield United 2-1 at Turf Moor as the top two sides moved to 94 points, eight clear with two games of the league campaign remaining.

Burnley captain Josh Brownhill, who scored both of his team's goals against Sheffield United, said: "I'm speechless. All that hard work this season.

"We've been written off so many times, people calling us boring. We've bored our way to the Premier League.

"It takes a whole team. It's not just a back four, a goal keeper, it takes everybody. I don't think a lot of the lads will sleep. I'm so buzzing for the lads that haven't played Premier League football."

The destination of the league title will be decided final two matches with Leeds hosting Bristol City and finishing the season away to Plymouth Argyle while Burnley travel to Queens Park Rangers and end with a home match against Milwall.

Sheffield United are assured of a spot in the Championship playoffs along with Sunderland and two other sides for the the third and final spot in next season's Premier League.
