Chelsea rescue late draw as Man City drop more points

City dominated the statistics for the match, holding 58% of the possession and creating nearly twice as many chances as Chelsea.

However, the Blues' defending was solid and many of the Citizens' shots were from range, meaning Chelsea ended up producing more xG than their hosts.

Even so, after such a strong first-half performance, City will be devastated to drop points in the manner they did against Chelsea - so late into the game.

It is also their second draw in the Premier League in four days - first against Sunderland and now Chelsea - allowing title rivals Arsenal to increase their lead at the top of the standings to six points.

Man City began the match well and created several chances early on, but had to wait until the 42nd minute before Tijjani Reijnders opened the scoring.

The Dutch international produced a moment of magic, smashing a long-range left-foot strike into the top corner to break the deadlock.

The hosts were more passive after the break and it was to their detriment as it allowed Chelsea to grow in confidence and start searching for a way back into the game.

As the game opened up late on with the players beginning to tire, Malo Gusto broke down the right wing and curled in a low cross that took a deflection off Nathan Ake and bounced to Enzo Fernandez on the back post. The Argentine midfielder poked the ball home from close range to grab an unexpected point the Blues.
