Amakhosi enjoyed the lion's share of the possession and earned the first real chance via Mduduzi Shabalala, but Galaxy gloveman Ira Tape was equal to the task, palming it away for a corner.

The pressure kept building and the first goal finally came through the combination of Shabalala and Flavio Silva in the 35th minute.

Shabalala found himself in space deep behind the TS Galaxy defence and provided a perfect dink of a cross to Silva, who rose above all to head the ball home past the outstretched right hand of Tape for his sixth goal of the season.

In the second stanza, a subdued start by both teams was interrupted as Mother Nature took matters into her own hands to deliver some action in the form of lightning, which forced the players off the pitch for 20 minutes.

The Johannesburg crowd was finally rewarded for their patience in the 73rd minute. Glody Lilepo was electric on the counterattack and fired into an empty net from a long way out to seal the deal for Chiefs.
