Dani Ceballos confirms he is leaving Real Madrid

The 29-year-old announced his departure in a message to supporters, admitting it had been a difficult decision after a challenging final season at the club.

"It has not been an easy decision," Ceballos said. "It has not been an easy year either, and perhaps that is precisely why I have felt that the time had come to put an end to this stage and face a new challenge with the same enthusiasm with which I arrived one day."

Ceballos joined Real Madrid from Real Betis in 2017 and went on to make 215 appearances in all competitions. During his time at the club, he helped Madrid win 16 trophies, including three UEFA Champions League titles. He also spent two seasons on loan at Arsenal between 2019 and 2021, gaining valuable experience in the Premier League before returning to Spain.

His final campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu was disrupted by injuries, limiting his opportunities to secure a regular place in the starting line-up. He featured 23 times across all competitions but started only four La Liga matches.

Real Madrid thanked the midfielder for his service and wished him success in the next chapter of his career.

"Real Madrid thanks Dani Ceballos for his commitment and dedication during his time defending our jersey, and we wish him and his entire family the best of luck in this new chapter of their lives," the club said. "Real Madrid is and will always be his home."
