Dani Ceballos sparks Real Madrid exit buzz with 'Last Dance' post as Marseille close in

The 29-year-old Spaniard has flirted with a move away throughout the window, seeking regular minutes to boost his chances of reclaiming a spot in the Spanish national team.

After Real Madrid's comfortable 3-0 victory over Real Oviedo on Sunday, Ceballos posted a photo of himself in action on Instagram with the caption "Last dance" alongside a thankful emoji, fueling speculation that his time at the Bernabeu is drawing to a close.

He entered the fray for just the final minutes, replacing Kylian Mbappe, in what many interpreted as a symbolic nod from coach Xabi Alonso.

Hours later, reports emerged linking Ceballos to Olympique Marseille, who are pushing hard for a loan deal with an option to buy.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has confirmed the interest, stating: "Olympique Marseille are keen on signing Dani Ceballos as dream target for the midfield. Initial talks took place, not an easy deal with Real Madrid but Olympique Marseille are trying. Loan with option to buy being discussed."

Romano later added: "Olympique Marseille have also approached Ceballos' camp over personal terms. Discussions underway for loan move with buy option clause included, talks on with Real Madrid."

Latest updates indicate progress, with journalist Santi Aouna reporting: "Dani Ceballos wants to join Marseille. Important day to get a FULL agreement."

While a return to boyhood club Real Betis had been mooted earlier, financial constraints stalled that option, paving the way for Marseille's ambitious swoop.

The French side, under Roberto De Zerbi, see Ceballos as a key addition to their midfield rebuild, potentially alongside or replacing Adrien Rabiot amid ongoing uncertainties.

Real Madrid, however, must weigh the loss carefully. Alonso has options like Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler, Fede Valverde, Franco Mastantuono, Eduardo Camavinga, and Jude Bellingham, though the latter pair are sidelined with injuries.

Depth in deeper roles looks thin, but experiments with Trent Alexander-Arnold centrally or promoting promising Castilla talent Thiago Pitarch, who impressed in preseason, could fill the gap. With the window slamming shut soon, Madrid's midfield puzzle might force a rethink if Ceballos departs.
