Defender Rico Lewis extends contract at Man City to 2030

The 20-year-old defender, a product of City's academy system, has emerged as one of the club's most promising talents and is now set to continue his development under Pep Guardiola's guidance for the foreseeable future.

Lewis, who broke into the first team last season and quickly cemented his place in Guardiola's plans, had previously been under contract until 2028. His two-year extension signals both the club's faith in his potential and his deep-rooted connection to Manchester City.

"Manchester City means everything to me," Lewis said, reflecting on the new deal. "To have been given the opportunity to sign this new contract is such a special moment both for me personally and my family. I've spent so much of my life at this club, and to be able to stay longer makes me incredibly happy."

Since making his debut, Lewis has featured in 97 matches for the senior team, contributing five goals from his role as an inverted full-back. During that time, he's played a part in securing seven major trophies for the club, including two Premier League titles and the UEFA Champions League.

In addition to his club achievements, Lewis has made his mark on the international stage, earning five caps for the England senior team. Still just 20, he sees his journey as one that's only beginning. "I am still improving and developing as a player," he said. "Working with Pep, his coaching team, and our world-class squad will only help me keep getting better. I will give everything to help us achieve even more success, this season and beyond."
