The teenager became the youngest player (17 years and 259 days) to feature in LaLiga this season eclipsing Getafe left-back Davinchi who was 17 years and 305 days when he made his debut against Celta Vigo.

According to TBR Football, the attacking midfielder is set to be rewarded with a new long-term contract next year despite reportedly holding talks with Chelsea last summer, amid Manchester City, Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur interest.

"I'm happy, very happy. It's incredible," said Fernandez after his debut.

"When they told me I'd be starting, I didn't believe it at first, but then I calmed down. The players and the coach reassured me, they told me to do what I do well in training, and that gave me confidence."

Barca head coach Hansi Flick is expected to give the youngster more opportunities for the 2025/26 season with Dro reportedly having 'no intention' of listening to potential suitors.

The teenager has also been named in the Catalans UEFA Champions League squad for the season ahead of the Matchday 2 clash against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium on Wednesday.
