The club confirmed the departure of Charalambous and his long-time assistant Mihai Pintilii after what it described as a successful three-year spell at the helm.
Charalambous took charge of FCSB in March 2023, while Pintilii — a former player for the club — had been involved in the technical team since 2020. During that period, Pintilii served in several roles, including both head coach and assistant, playing an important part in the club’s recent progress.
Following the announcement, the Bafana Bafana player took to social media to thank the coaching duo for their influence and support during his time in Romania.
“Best duo, thanks for the good and the bad, what an amazing journey,” Ngezana wrote.
"History is written in our hearts forever. All the best in your future endeavours."
Ngezana, who joined FCSB from Chiefs in 2023, developed into a key figure in the club’s defence under Charalambous’ leadership and has continued to grow in stature since making the move to Europe.
Meanwhile, the club wasted little time in announcing a replacement, confirming that former captain Mirel Radoi will take over as head coach.
In a statement, the club welcomed the appointment of the 44-year-old, describing him as a legendary figure in the club’s history.
“Mirel Radoi is one of us,” the statement read.
“The legendary captain of our team, Mirel Rădoi, is starting today the new coach of the Romanian champion.”
Radoi returns to the role nearly a decade after his previous stint, having briefly coached the team during the first part of the 2015-16 season.
His technical staff will include assistant coaches Mihai Ianovschi and Ionuț Stancu, goalkeeping coach Robert Tufisi, fitness trainer Horațiu Baciu, and video analyst Denis Radoi.
The appointment signals the start of a new chapter for FCSB as they look to build on recent successes.
