Ex-Super Eagles invitee seals Ningbo FC switch

The Nigerian winger was officially confirmed by the club on Wednesday after leaving UAE outfit Al Orooba at the end of the 2024/25 campaign. His arrival signals a return to familiar territory, having previously impressed in China's top flight.

During the 2024 season, Solomon-Otabor featured for Chinese Super League side Cangzhou Mighty Lions, where he contributed 12 goal involvements in 30 appearances.

His impact proved decisive as the club battled to maintain their top-flight status, with his performances in the final stretch of the campaign particularly influential.

The 29-year-old began his career in England with Crystal Palace's academy before going on to represent Birmingham City, Blackpool, Portsmouth and Wigan Athletic. Across those spells, he gained experience in both the Championship and League One, establishing himself as a direct and energetic wide player.

His career has also included spells in Eastern Europe with CSKA Sofia in Bulgaria and FC Rukh Lviv in Ukraine. Most recently, he featured for Al Orooba in the UAE, scoring three goals and providing two assists in 11 appearances.

Blessed with blistering pace and sharp acceleration, Solomon-Otabor is known for his ability to stretch defences and exploit space in transition. He combines speed with technical ability, offering creativity and delivery in advanced areas.

Internationally, he earned a Super Eagles call-up in 2019 and was part of the squad for Nigeria's high-profile friendly against Brazil in Singapore, remaining an unused substitute in the 1-1 draw.
