FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto'o sanctioned by CAF for misconduct

FECAFOOT President Samuel Eto'o sanctioned by CAF for misconduct

The Cameroon legend was sanctioned following the Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 fixture between Morocco and Cameroon in Rabat, on 09 January 2026, where Eto'o was reportedly seen making angry gestures over refereeing decisions.

A statement from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said Eto'o had been found "guilty of violating the principles of sportsmanship for his misconduct during the said match."

The CAF DC also confirmed that it has imposed a four-match stadium ban on the former Barcelona and Inter Milan star until the end of the current AFCON tournament, whilst also handing down a $20,000 (R328 000) fine.

FECAFOOT also released their own statement on Thursday claiming that the judgement "lacks any explicit justification".

"Fecafoot reaffirms its support for its president and its commitment to respecting the principles governing credible disciplinary justice," added the statement.

The Cameroonian Football Federation has confirmed that it will appeal the decision.
