Grant Kekana says title-chasing Mamelodi Sundowns wary of in-form Kaizer Chiefs

Grant Kekana says title-chasing Mamelodi Sundowns wary of in-form Kaizer Chiefs

Sundowns lead title rivals Orlando Pirates at the top of the standings by two points with three games of their season remaining.

While the Brazilians face an in-form Amakhosi, the Buccaneers have a somewhat easier assignnment away to struggling Magesi.

Any slip up at this late stage of their campaign could allow Pirates to make up ground, and Kekana knows they won't have it all their own way against a wounded Chiefs team, who come into this game after a 2-0 loss away to Siwelele.

Sundowns last overcame Polokwane City twice in the space of a week, 1-0 on the road and 3-0 at home.

"It will be a tough game and I think they have done well in the second round to be in the position that they are in," Kekana said in the Citizen.

"Despite losing against Siwelele FC, we know what their form has been like and we're wary of it. We plan to nullify it on the day. It will be a tough game but it will one that we have prepared for."

Sundowns play the first leg of their CAF Champions League final against AS FAR next week, but Kekana insisted they are fully focused on Chiefs.

"We are obviously taking it one game at a time and the focus right now is Kaizer Chiefs.

“When we get to the final, that's where our focus will be but right now our immediate focus is on Chiefs.

“We are looking to be as well prepared as we can so that we can get a positive outcome on the day,” he said.
