Iqraam Rayners says Sundowns are well poised to progress in Club World Cup

The 29-year-old Bafana Bafana striker scored the only goal of the Brazilians' opening clash with Korean side Ulsan HD at the Inter & Co Stadium in Florida on Tuesday in a 1-0 win, and was subsequently named Man of the Match.

The Brazilians are next in action against German giants Borussia Dortmund at the TQL Stadium in Ohio on Saturday.

Prior to their first game, Downs head coach Miguel Cardoso said it would be a massive achievement for his team to get out of their group that also includes Brazil's Fluminense.

But they find themselves in a strong position at the top of Group F after Dortmund drew to Fluminense in their first game.

Speaking ahead of their upcoming encounter, Rayners, who also had two goals disallowed against Ulsan, explained that Downs will continue to focus on one game at a time.

He said in the Sowetan: "We just need to take it one game at a time. We need to focus on the next one and whatever happens in the next one happens but I think we can go through. We just need to keep helping each other, fighting and that's all it is about.

"I just want to thank my teammates, the coaches and the supporters that were behind us. For us as a team, it was all about getting the win in our first game, and I’m happy we managed to get it."

"It always feels good to score goals. The two goals were disallowed, so I just have to keep pushing and focus on the next two games; that’s what matters," Rayners added.
