Joan Laporta and Victor Font set to battle for Barcelona presidency

The Electoral Board met at the Auditori 1899 inside the Spotify Camp Nou on Thursday and confirmed that Laporta and Font have met the required number of 2,337 valid signatures to compete for the presidency.

Laporta has overseen two stints as Barca president, first between 2003 until 2010 and then returned to the role in 2021 [beating Font] until now.

He emerged as the strongest candidate after leading with 7 226 validated signatures with his opposition Font tallying 4 440, while Marc Ciria failed to meet the required threshold with 2 247.

However, Ciria has announced that he will file against the Catalan Football Federaion but will not obstruct the elections at the club.

According to the club's regulation the candidate has the right to appeal the result before the electoral board by filing an official complaint within three working days of the announcement.

Meanwhile, Laporta and Font will have eight days present their campaign and vision for the Spanish side's future.
