Jonas Urbig praises Bayern Munich versatility after Champions League win at Eindoven

Man of the Match Urbig produced big saves in the first half against Sergino Dest, a deflected Joey Veerman shot before thwarting attempts from Ismael Saibari, Guus Til and Ivan Perisic to keep the score goalless.

The German youth international was making his first appearance in the UEFA Champions League this season but produced a composed second half display despite conceding to Saibari.

"The crucial thing was that we kept our foot on the pedal and took on the duels in every moment, fought for the second balls," said Urbig to the club website.

"That's so important in games like this because that's how you keep the opponents under pressure all the time. With the substitutions, we were able to bring on freshness and take advantage of the spaces that were there.

"It doesn't matter if we're against technically strong teams like PSG or Chelsea – we can really stand up to them and win games – or like today when it's a battle for the second balls. That's what marks us out, that we're so versatile, and we look forward to the next opponents."

The match was the 22-year-old's seventh appearance in all competitions this season, where he has kept three clean sheets and conceded six goals.
