Joshua Kimmich rallies Bayern Munich ahead of Dortmund showdown

Joshua Kimmich rallies Bayern Munich ahead of Dortmund showdown

Speaking to SPORT1 during Audi's team car handover event, the 30-year-old midfielder praised Dortmund's defensive organisation and attacking pace but made clear Bayern are determined to assert their dominance in Saturday evening's clash at the Allianz Arena.

"I think Dortmund are very solid defensively," Kimmich said. "Up front, they have very fast players in Karim Adeyemi and Maxi Beier, and in Guirassy they have another striker with very good qualities. We have to be careful.

"We have the chance to make a statement and pull away, that's the goal."

The Bavarians, who remain unbeaten in the league this season with a perfect record of 10 wins across all competitions, will host Dortmund aiming to extend their lead over the visitors, who trail by four points after a strong start to the campaign.

Kimmich also spoke highly of Harry Kane's contribution since joining Bayern, backing the England captain to be a Ballon d'Or contender, though he stressed that Kane's focus remains on team success rather than personal glory.

"The goal is to achieve things as a team to make it possible for him to win individual awards," Kimmich said. "But when he's on the pitch, I don't get the impression that he's playing for individual honours. He's a very complete player and plays for the team's success.

"I've never seen him upset in the dressing room because we won 3-0 and he didn't score.

"He always wants to put his teammates in the spotlight. That mix makes him very special and extremely valuable to us."

With Bayern and Dortmund set to renew their fierce rivalry on Saturday, Kimmich's words reflect a side eager to send a message, not just to their closest challengers, but to the rest of the Bundesliga.
