The Catalan giants announced the agreement on Friday, cementing Kounde's role as a cornerstone of manager Hansi Flick's squad.
The 26-year-old, whose previous deal was set to expire in 2027, expressed his delight at continuing his journey with the club during their recent pre-season tour in Asia, where he confirmed only the formalities remained.
Kounde, a regular for both club and country, has become indispensable since joining Barcelona from Sevilla in the summer of 2022 for a fee of 50 million euros plus add-ons.
Last season, the 2024-25 campaign, he featured in 53 matches, missing just seven, six due to a minor thigh injury. Initially deployed as a central defender, his natural position, Kounde has thrived as a right-back over the past two seasons, establishing himself as an undisputed starter.
His adaptability and consistent performances have convinced Barcelona's sporting department that no immediate reinforcement is needed at right-back.
The defender's commitment to the club was never in doubt. "The club and I shared the same vision to continue together," Kounde said recently. "I'm very happy, I feel at home with the team, with the ambition here, and I'm grateful to be at a club that fights for every trophy every year. I had no intention of leaving."
His words reflect the strong bond he has formed with the squad and the club's passionate fanbase.
An official ceremony to mark the extension is planned in the coming days, with Barcelona president Joan Laporta expected to attend alongside Kounde. The event will formalise the agreement and celebrate the defender's pivotal role in the club's ambitions.
X Updates: Barcelona's official account posted: "Jules Kounde signs until 2030! A key player for our present and future."
Jules Kounde shared: "Proud to extend my journey with this incredible club. Let's keep pushing for greatness! #ForcaBarca"
This extension underscores Barcelona's intent to build around their core players, with Kounde's versatility and reliability set to anchor their defence for years to come.
