Kaizer Chiefs fall to defeat in opening pre-season fixture in the Netherlands

Amakhosi started well with Mduduzi Shabalala having an effort palmed against the post by the home goalkeeper after 20 minutes.

Chiefs then took the lead in the 37th minutes when Reeve Frosler scored from a scintillating long-range shot that gave the goalkeeper no chance.

Head coach Nasreddine Nabi made plenty of changes at the halftime break to give most of his players an opportunity to get some game time.

New signing Ethan Chislett was among those taking the field while Gaston Sirino, Ashley Du Preez and Tashreeq Morris also saw some action.

The Dutch club equalised just after the interval when another substitute Dillon Solomons deflected a cross into the back of his own net.

Amakhosi could have regained the lead when Chislett did well to set up Morris but the forward blazed his effort over the cross-bar from close-range.

The home side then found the winner with little more than 15 minutes remaining after Chiefs failed to clear their lines from a long throw-in.

It was the first of five pre-season matches for Chiefs on their to tour to the Netherlands with the next clash against FC Utrecht on Friday.
