Khanyisa Mayo turns down overseas offers to join Kaizer Chiefs
Newly signed Kaizer Chiefs striker Khanyisa Mayo has turned down offers from abroad to return home and join Amakhosi, his agent Basia Michaels has revealed.
Amakhosi have won four and drawn one of their opening five games this season to sit in second place on the Betway Premiership standings with 13 points, level with leaders Sekhunkhune United.
After winning the Nedbank Cup last term, Chiefs strengthened heavily in the off-season with 11 new signings, including recent capture Khanyiso Mayo.
Their new-look side has been attracting the club's fans, who numbered over 70,000 in a recent sold-out match against Mamelodi Sundowns.
Reflecting on the support from the Chiefs' fans, Motaung explained: "I think it speaks to what the brand is about. Definitely speaks to what the brand is about.
"Obviously winning adds to it and it was great to see the stadium filled at 70,000 capacity. In fact, we had to stop selling tickets, so we were in a full house on a Wednesday night. But we've seen it with the team filling the stadium, playing against Sundowns, playing against [Orlando] Pirates and other teams.
"But certainly, the mood is high, and supporters are really voting with their feet and coming into the stadium and filling the stadium."
Motaung also reemphasised the club's commitment to Nabi by bringing in players they feel will take the club forward.
"The team is committed to making sure that we have the best players, whatever coach we have," added Motaung.
“We are here to build a team that's going to last for Kaizer Chiefs. Obviously, the coach is here to do his job. We're giving him the tools to do the job, and we expect him to deliver.”
