Kaizer Chiefs set for double defensive boost

Assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef provided an encouraging injury update following the Amakhosi's 1-0 victory over Durban City in the Betway Premiership at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday night.

Both players have been sidelined since the start of the 2025/26 season, with Dortley recovering from knee surgery he underwent in March, while Msimango has only recently resumed full training.

"About Dortley, he will be back with us in two weeks to start training," confirmed Ben Youssef.

"But Given is part of the team, he is ready. It's just about his fitness now and he will be ready; we will introduce him."

The Tunisian assistant coach's update will come as welcome news to Chiefs supporters, with the team looking to maintain their solid defensive form as the season gathers pace.

Once fully fit, the returning pair will provide head coach Khalil Ben Youssef and his technical team with valuable options alongside current defensive regulars Zitha Kwinika, Inacio Miguel, and Aden McCarthy.

Dortley's return will add balance and composure to the left side of defence, while Msimango's leadership and aerial strength could further bolster the Amakhosi's rearguard.

With both players nearing full fitness, Chiefs' depth in central defence looks set for a major lift heading into a crucial phase of the campaign.
