Kaizer Chiefs target back-to-back wins against bottom-club Magesi

Amakhosi had built up some momentum in the league before a run of three successive league defeats in February saw the club slip from third to fifth on the standings.

But they come into this tie on the back of a hard-fought 1-0 win over Durban City last Sunday, to move onto 33 points from 19 games, just one point adrift of Sekhukhune united in third, and with two games in hand.

They also face a Magesi team with just two wins all season, although they have managed to record to successive draw, 0-0 away to AmaZulu and 2-2 at home against Chippa United.

Speaking ahead of the game Amakhosi co-coach Cedric Kaze said: "I do believe that until now we're in the right space and we just need to take game by game and we have an important game on Saturday against Magesi before we go to the international break.

"All our focus needs to be on that game because we have had a couple of difficult weeks and the only thing is to try and improve everyday, to try to get the right message to the players during the week at training, to try to train as good as we can everyday and go into the Saturday game against Magesi and I believe that everything else will fall in line."

After the Chilli Boys draw, new Magesi coach Allan Freese admitted his side's form wasn't good enough.

Freese has overseen four game, picking up three points. He said: "Okay, today was my fourth game. Four games, three points, not good. Not good at all. So out of 12, I'm supposed to be fired.

"Well, my job was to motivate the players and help them to get to another level, which I am doing, as you can see.

"I'm going to go back and work with the players. Let's see where we can take the team to. I'm hoping that we can do better than what we did today."

In team news, Chiefs are boosted by the return of Sibongiseni Mthethwa and Aden McCarthy from suspension.
