Kylian Mbappe hat-trick sees Real Madrid ease past Real Sociedad

Back for a second spell at Los Blancos, Mourinho's side won the game with a hat-trick from Kylian Mbappe.

The French forward broke the deadlock at the Santiago Bernabéu on 40 minutes. Luka Sucic briefly levelled for Pellegrino Matarazzo's team a minute before half-time, but Mbappe scored again in the 60th minute to restore Madrid's lead.

Vinicius Junior added a third goal on 68 minutes, and Mbappe put the result beyond doubt with his third goal some ten minutes from time.

Mourinho's charges now top the standings with six points from two games after edging Espanyol 2-1 in their opening league encounter.

Real had started the game by flooding forward, with Mbappe's first chance arriving in the seventh minute, but he was unable to beat Alex Remiro from a tight angle.

Thibaut Courtois then deflected Mikel Oyarzabal's well hit shot wide for a corner as Sociedad looked to make an impact early on.

Madrid wasted a chance to go ahead after Federico Valverde recovered the ball in the opposing half and Mbappe played a pass into space for Vini Jr. but again Remiro was not to be beaten.

Sergio Gomez should have done better with a volley inside the box that missed the target, but before Mbappe hit his first goal, after a neat finish following a storming run and pass from Valverde.

Sucic soon levelled by reacting quickest to a rebound inside the box, and after being denied in a one-on-one situation with Remiro, Mbappe made no mistake with his next effort after a slick give and go with Jude Bellingham.

The Englishman also set up Vini Jr. for his goal, while Mbappe completed his hat-trick with a chip over Remiro after a teasing Vinicius pass.

Next up for Mourinho's team is a home clash with Malaga as Sociedad in bottom spot with zero points from two games, take on Espanyol.
