Last-gasp drama as Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu share spoils

The game kicked off with Kaizer Chiefs dominating possession and creating early chances. Mduduzi Shabalala had his effort blocked in the opening minute, followed by saves from Yusuf Maart and Makabi Lilepo's attempts.

Despite the early pressure, it was an own goal by Ramahlwe Mphahlele of AmaZulu in the 18th minute that gave Chiefs the 1-0 lead.

AmaZulu responded quickly, with Tshepang Moremi leveling the score just five minutes later with a well-taken shot assisted by Rowan Human.

The first half ended with both teams on equal footing, having each converted one opportunity into a goal.

The second half continued with high intensity as AmaZulu took the lead in the 60th minute through a header by Elmo Kambindu, again assisted by Rowan Human.

However, the lead didn't last long as another own goal, this time by Richard Ofori of AmaZulu, brought the score back to 2-2 in the 63rd minute.

The match saw numerous attempts from both sides, with Chiefs pushing hard for a winner.

Makabi Lilepo was particularly active for Chiefs, attempting several shots from various positions.

On the other side, AmaZulu's Rowan Human was instrumental in their offensive plays, nearly scoring again but hitting the post in the 67th minute.

Despite the flurry of blocked shots and missed opportunities, neither team managed to break the deadlock before the final whistle.

Chiefs ended the game with 54% possession and 20 goal attempts compared to AmaZulu's 12.

This result leaves Kaizer Chiefs in fifth place in the league standings with 22 points from 16 matches, while AmaZulu sit in seventh with 20 points, also from 16 games.

The draw keeps both teams in the hunt for higher finishes but highlights the competitive nature of this season's Betway Premiership.
