Luis Diaz confirms he was approached by Barcelona before moving to Bayern Munich

The Colombian winger left Liverpool in the recent transfer window following months of speculation about his future. Barcelona were strongly interested, with sporting director Deco pushing for his signing, but financial constraints prevented the deal. 

Instead, Bayern stepped in and secured the 28-year-old for a reported fee of around seventy million euros.

Speaking after Bayern's 3-1 Champions League win over Chelsea last night, Diaz reflected on the transfer saga. "Colombians always support me. Today I saw flags of the national team and my shirt, and I'm very happy for all that support. I'm very happy to be at this great club. There were talks with Barcelona, as is the market, with several teams," he said.

The winger stressed that he made the right call by choosing the German champions. "I'm very comfortable with this decision. I made an objective decision for my future, and the important thing is that I'm joining a great club. So, I'll just try to give my all," Diaz added.

Diaz has made an immediate impact in Bavaria, playing a key role in the win over Chelsea and quickly establishing himself as one of Bayern's attacking threats alongside Harry Kane and Jamal Musiala (currently injured).

Barcelona, meanwhile, opted for Marcus Rashford, signing the England international from Manchester United on a season-long loan with a buy option. Rashford has already started under Hansi Flick, who has said helping the forward rediscover his best form is a "personal challenge."

For Diaz, though, the focus is firmly on Bayern's season. With the Bundesliga underway and another Champions League campaign ahead, he has said he is "ready to give everything" for his new club.
