Senegal seeks pardon for 18 fans jailed after AFCON final
Senegal's government has spoken out strongly against the sentencing of 18 of its football supporters in Morocco following the Africa Cup of Nations final in January.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports has asked the Malian Football Federation (FEMAFOOT) to terminate their working relationship with Saintfiet following the country's quarter-final exit at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.
According to the letter sent to FEMAFOOT, the coach failed to achieve three out of four key objectives which include reaching the 2025 AFCON final, qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and advancing to the last 16 of the global tournament.
The Belgian coach joined the Eagles in August 2004, leading the nation in 19 fixtures, winning nine times, drawing seven games and only losing on three occasions.
He was also recently linked with a move to coach the Rwanda national team, however the 52-year-old coach dismissed those rumours.
"Contrary to some media reports, I did not resign from my job in Mali, and I did not apply for a job in Rwanda," he wrote on his social media.
FEMAFOOT is yet to respond to the request to terminate Saintfiet's contract.
